Google Ad Conversions Setup

Google

1. Setup Google Analytics

  1. Add Site name for "Property Name"
  2. Set time to "New York"
  3. Currency to "US Dollar"
  4. Industry to "Other" unless there is a clear category
  5. Business size -- just guess?
  6. Click "Other" baseline reports
  7. Add domain and set "Data Stream" name to site name
  8. Make sure Steve & Jackie have access if possible

2. Setup Google Tag Manager

  1. Add Site name for "Account Name"
  2. Set "Container Name" to domain
  3. Select "Web" platform
  4. Make sure Steve & Jackie have full publishing permissions

3. Setup Google Ads

4. Setup Google Ads Conversions

  1. In GTM
    1. Add a tag for conversion linker and GA4 Configuration
    2. Add a GA4 Variable by going to -- Variables > User-defined Variable > Constant
    3. Add a new GA4 Event tag, using the GA4 constant variable as the measurement id, create an easily identifiable event name, and create triggers for specific uses
    4. Test in the previewer
    5. Trigger the events in guest mode
  2. In Google Analytics
    1. If necessary, create key events by going to Admin > Data Display > Events > Create Event
  3. In Google Ads
    1. Go to Goals > Data Manager > Link GA4 Account
    2. May have to scan for connected accounts and select GA4 account
    3. Go to Goals > Conversions > Summary > Create Conversion Action > Import GA4 (web)
